The Glass House Pomona held a peculiar energy in the air as I entered through the doors. The usual excitement was present, but something else dug at my brain. What unraveled before me that night was unexpected.

Greyhaven set the night into motion. The audience immediately fancied their fiery energy. Dynamic, colorful lighting complemented their lively performance. The pit formed for the band - everyone was up and warmed up for the night that was to come. Slowly, the realization of alerted my senses at the start of night came to me - Pomona’s crowd is a tight-knit community.

In waiting for the headline performance, the hazy blue-lit stage held a mysterious aura. It was intriguing, as if it was almost calling to the crowd to join its company. Soon enough, Holywatr smoothly joined the stage in style.

Front lights would sparingly be used through the show, however the ample backlighting produced a flawless heavy silhouette effect on the band, pushing the music’s deep atmosphere even further. Despite the mysterious energy, what took the show by storm was Holywatr’s engagement with the crowd. The frontman got down to eye level to sing with fans. A wall of death was organized. An intimate moment between performers and the crowd, as fans held their phones to light up the stage. Multiple pits formed in the crowd and eventually converged. Additionally, Holywatr dedicated a song to provide a safe space for the ladies in the crowd to mosh.

Holywatr’s performance had heart. They shared a piece of their heart to the Pomona crowd that night. An invisible vein connected the entire venue - beating in-sync with each other, no matter where you were found in the crowd.
