Poptropicaslutz! are an alternative-pop duo, consisting of Christian Cicilia & Nick Crawford. Known for their genre-defying and ever evolving sound the band previously created grungy, pop-punk & hyper-pop influenced tracks, however with the recent release of The New 925, Poptropicaslutz! demonstrated their versatility once again by blending elements of rap & pop with electronic sounds & experimental vocals, creating a cohesive and fluid project which perfectly showcases their growth.

As expected, the album came with another tour, this time taking them overseas to the United Kingdom for the first time. Selling out not one, but two shows in London, the band was met with an overwelming welcome, from not only the british fans, but also the fans who had flown in from across europe to catch these shows.

Kicking off night one, close friend, producer and artist, Aldrch took to the stage. A demonstration of incredible crowdwork & undeniable stage presence. His set consisted of his newest singles playright and wait, however, the highlight of this set had to have been the crowd erupting for his redux of the hit single Kids by MGMT. His upbeat, nostalgic electronic tracks perfectly set the scene and hyped the crowd up for the Poptropicaslutz! set that was to come later.

Although Aldrch didn’t open for the second night, his set on Night one was for sure a memorable one, and after chatting with a few people from the audience, it was clear that their interest into the rest of Aldrch’s discography had been piqued.

Poptropicaslutz! came to the stage with an unimaginable presence to them, immediately breaking into a captivating performance of It boy, accompanied by previous support act, Aldrch, who was on Guitar, Synth and Lighting.

Despite the album only coming out a few weeks prior to the shows, the crowd seemed to know every word from every single track of their new album, a showcase of their fanbase’s devotion to the band.

Aside from playing The New 925 in its entirety the band also played some fan favourites, such as Bittersweet teeth and Hollywood High 16, with a new re-imagined sound to them, breaking the sweat-soaked, cramped room into excitement as long-time fans sung twice as loud as the band.

The night ended with a couple unreleased tracks & a performance of their track The New 925 from the album, what I think couldn't have been more of a perfect way to wrap up the show.

These two nights in London proved that Aldrch & Poptropicaslutz! alike are more than just a niche act, they have solidified their place in the industry & the scene. A promising trio of friends that are set to break into the mainstream & attract a wider global following. They are a movement in motion.
